About This Firearm

The Franklin Armory F22-V Pistol is a braced semi-automatic .22 LR built for pest and small game work. It has an MSRP of $1,499.99. Its 12 inch Angstadt Arms Vanquish barrel is itself the suppressor, so the quiet comes from the barrel and nothing screws onto the muzzle.

A Picatinny rail is built into the F22 billet receiver, so a red dot or a scope mounts without a separate base, and you buy the optic itself. The SB Tactical FS1913 brace rides on an SB Tactical SB22 chassis with a B5 Systems P-Grip, and this build runs a factory Ruger BX-Trigger at 2.5 to 3 lbs.

If you're cross-shopping, the Franklin Armory F22-V Rifle has an MSRP of $1,249.99 and puts the same Vanquish barrel line at 18 inches, so the shorter gun is the dearer one of the two. The Volquartsen Vanquish 22 Superlite ISR has an MSRP of $1,884 and breaks at 2.25 lbs with its TG2000 trigger group, and it comes with a 10-round magazine. None of the three has a can you can unscrew, so the suppressor stays with whichever gun it was built into.

Best For

GOOD
Suppressed Range Work
Direct blowback means no gas tube and no piston, so a long session leaves the bolt, the chamber and the bore to clean. There is also no suppressor mount to check for carbon lock between trips.
GOOD
Pest and Small Game
A brace instead of a stock keeps the package short for a pack or a truck seat, and the suppressed barrel travels with it because there is nothing to unscrew and leave behind. The extended magazine release drops a magazine without moving the firing hand.
FAIR
Training
A brace is not a shoulder stock, so a new shooter gets steadier results off a rest or a bipod than standing. The barrel is cut with a 1:16 right-hand twist and takes standard .22 LR.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths
  • The receiver is Franklin's own F22 billet unit, and this build includes an enhanced firing pin.
  • The charging handle is knurled, which gives a grip worth having with cold or wet hands.
  • The trigger and the bolt release are Ruger 10/22 parts, so a replacement or a different pull weight is a shelf item instead of a factory order.
Limitations
  • The suppressor is machined into the barrel assembly, so it cannot be moved to another gun the way a screw-on can would.
  • Franklin builds these to order with a lead time of weeks, so one is not a walk-out purchase.
  • The brace and the grip are SB Tactical and B5 Systems parts, so changing the feel of either means buying into another maker's shapes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Binary version change?

Franklin builds the F22-V in two trigger configurations. The Binary version fires on pull and release and adds an automatic bolt release, while this one uses the factory Ruger BX-Trigger and the standard Ruger bolt release.

Can the suppressor be taken off or serviced?

No. It is part of the Angstadt Arms Vanquish barrel assembly, so there is no can to unscrew, no mount to align and no baffle stack to pull out and scrub.

How does it differ from the F22-V Rifle beyond barrel length?

The rifle wears a Magpul MOE X-22 stock where this one sits on the SB Tactical chassis and brace. Both share the F22 billet receiver, the built-in rail, the Angstadt barrel line and the choice of trigger.
