Product Overview
Black Hills HoneyBadger 125-grain is a solid copper .44 Special load made for personal defense. The HoneyBadger bullet is a fluted copper solid, machined with grooves instead of a hollow cavity. It leaves the muzzle at 1,250 fps with 434 ft-lbs.
Zeroed at 25 yards, the bullet lands 1.1 inches low at 50, flat enough across that span to hold dead on. Its estimated recoil of 5.5 ft-lbs in the same revolver stays low because the bullet is light, even at this speed.
If you're cross-shopping, Hornady Critical Defense 165-grain FTX fires a bullet 40 grains heavier 350 fps slower, for much the same estimated recoil. HSM Cowboy Action 200-grain RNFP is a plain lead bullet at 850 fps with 321 ft-lbs.
