Idaho Unit 43 covers 448,263 acres and lies 35 miles west of Ketchum. 97% of it is public land, mostly national forest (94%) and BLM (1%). In 2025, 1,063 people hunted elk here and took 129, a 12% success rate (sum of published weapon rows). Its most applied-for hunt, 2020, put up 125 tags (all residencies) in the 2026 draw for 287 nonresident first-choice applicants, 12 of whom drew.
