Arizona Landowner Tags
Arizona has no landowner tag program - a confirmed negative. The whole tag inventory is hunt permit-tags (draw), nonpermit-tags (over the counter) and restricted nonpermit-tags, and none of them is allocated to landowners. The only landowner mechanisms are ARS 17-239(D) depredation permits, where the edible portions must be surrendered to the department, and Landowner Compact Agreements, which grant access only and carry no tags.

Hunting Your Own Land
A landowner in Arizona needs the same license and tag as any other hunter to take big game on their own property. The programs below change who gets a limited tag, not whether one is needed.
No Landowner Tag Program
Arizona gives landowners no tags, vouchers or preference for big game. Owning the ground changes access, not the draw.
General Season or Limited Draw?
Mostly draw, with real over-the-counter exceptions: bear and mountain lion are 100 percent OTC nonpermit-tag, and archery-only deer, elk in designated non-traditional-habitat areas, javelina and archery or youth turkey are OTC. Pronghorn, bighorn and bison are 100 percent draw. Nonresident archery deer nonpermit-tags are capped at 10 percent of the five-year average sales and sold online only from Nov 2; draw caps are 10 percent nonresident per hunt number, with a maximum of one tag where 10 or fewer are issued and resident-only where one tag is issued. Unit harvest limits close OTC bear, lion and archery-deer units mid-season.

Things That Trip People Up
- Confirmed negative: no landowner preference, tag or voucher exists, so there is nothing to look up by acreage.
- Landowner Compact Agreements (Bar T Bar, Flying M, Fort Rock, Boquillas-Diamond A, Perrin, CO Bar) are access-only and appear only as Commission Order notes - they are not tags.
- Depredation permits under ARS 17-239(D) require the edible portions to be surrendered to the department, so they are not a hunting opportunity.
- The only licence exemption is hunting on an Indian reservation (R12-4-117), not land ownership.
- azgfd.com hard-403s non-browser clients; the regulation PDFs on the Pantheon S3 bucket and azleg.gov are the usable sources.
- HB 2147 would have created Arizona's first landowner deer permit, capped at 10 percent of draw tags; it passed the House and died in the Senate, and we note that AZ bill disposition could not be confirmed on apps.azleg.gov.
