South Snowy Range

Wyoming Hunt Area 9 covers 261,881 acres and lies 23 miles west of Laramie and 40 miles east of Encampment. 66% of it is public land, mostly national forest (50%) and state land (10%). In 2025, 1,540 people hunted elk here and took 266 — 17% of them killed something. The 2026 draw put up 56 nonresident tags here for 67 first-choice applicants.
