Wyoming Hunt Area 9 covers 400,684 acres and lies 17 miles south-west of Newcastle and 32 miles south of Upton. 22% of it is public land, mostly national forest (9%) and state land (7%). In 2025, 209 people hunted mule deer here and took 72, a 34% success rate. Its most applied-for hunt, 9-7, put up 61 nonresident tags in the 2021 draw for 39 first-choice applicants.
