Federal's Fusion 300-grain TSX is a hunting load for shooters who need a lead-free bullet. The TSX is a copper hollow point with no lead core. It leaves the muzzle at 1,925 fps with 2,469 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with Federal's Fusion 300-grain SP, which has a lead core under a bonded jacket, the TSX starts 75 fps faster and carries 189 more ft-lbs at the muzzle. Federal markets the SP for big game, from a line it built for deer hunting. Compared with Fort Scott Munitions' 300-grain TUI, the other all-copper bullet, the TSX starts 162 fps faster with 398 more ft-lbs at the muzzle, while the Fort Scott kicks about 8 percent less in the same rifle.
Buy the Fusion TSX if you need a lead-free bullet and want more speed than the Fort Scott TUI. Pick the Fort Scott if a lead-free bullet matters and you would rather have less recoil.
