How to read it: filled circles are the near and far zero, where the bullet's path crosses the line of sight;the triangle is the peak (max ordinate). The shaded band is the 8" vital zone, ±4" either side of the line of sight. The dashed line marks the edge of the hold-dead-on window. The chart is zoomed to where the zero matters; the tables below run to 500 yards.

Product Overview

Lapua's Naturalis 120-grain load is for .260 Remington shooters who want a lead-free bullet from Lapua. Naturalis is Lapua's solid copper bullet with no lead core. It leaves the muzzle at 2,950 fps with 2,320 ft-lbs of energy.

Compared with Lapua Mega 120-grain SP, Lapua's lead-core soft point, the Naturalis is the same load at the muzzle: the same speed, the same energy and the same recoil in the same rifle, so the choice between them is copper or lead. Compared with Fort Scott Munitions' 123-grain TUI, another solid copper bullet, the Naturalis is slower but softer to shoot. The Fort Scott load leaves the muzzle at 3,026 fps, 76 fps faster, with 2,501 ft-lbs, and it kicks about 8 percent harder in the same rifle.

Buy the Naturalis if you want a lead-free solid copper bullet and less recoil than the Fort Scott load. Pick the Lapua Mega if you don't need a lead-free bullet and want a conventional soft point at the same speed. Pick the Fort Scott Munitions TUI if muzzle speed matters more to you than recoil. For a tipped copper bullet at the same 2,950 fps, Barnes markets its VOR-TX 120-grain TTSX for big and medium game. If you also shoot targets, Hornady markets its 130-grain ELD Match as a target load; it starts 110 fps slower than the Naturalis.

Strengths
  • A 120-grain solid copper bullet with no lead core
  • About 8 percent less recoil than the Fort Scott Munitions 123-grain TUI in the same rifle
  • Matches Lapua Mega 120-grain SP at 2,950 fps and 2,320 ft-lbs without a lead core
Limitations
  • Leaves the muzzle 76 fps slower than the Fort Scott Munitions 123-grain TUI
  • Carries 181 ft-lbs less muzzle energy than the Fort Scott Munitions 123-grain TUI
  • No speed or recoil edge over Barnes VOR-TX 120-grain TTSX, which Barnes markets for big and medium game
