The Sig Sauer P211-GTO is a stainless-framed single-action 9mm built for competition. Sig sells it with a compensator already fitted, a 3D-manufactured Mach3D unit on the end of a 4.4-inch bull barrel that Sig says cuts muzzle rise by 30 percent.

Three magazines come in the box, one 23-round and two 21-round, and they are P320 magazines, so spares come off the same shelf as P320 spares. The slide is cut for Sig's SIG-LOC PRO optic mount and carries no iron sights in this form, so a dot and that mount are the sighting system. The grip is a pair of black G10 panels on an alloy module, which can be changed for thinner or thicker panels. At 45.9 oz the pistol is heavy in the hand, which steadies it between shots.

If you're cross-shopping, the Staccato P weighs 33.0 oz, 12.9 oz less than the Sig, on the same barrel length, and holds 17 rounds. The Springfield Armory Prodigy has an MSRP of $1,530, weighs that same 33.0 oz and runs a 5.0-inch barrel with the same count. Neither of those takes P320 magazines, so a shooter who already owns a P320 keeps using the magazines they have.
