About This Firearm
The Beretta 92GTS Full Size is Beretta's updated 92: the same open-slide, DA/SA, 15-round service pistol, now with an optic-ready slide, a frame-mounted decocker with no manual safety, and DLC-coated trigger parts. The decision it answers is whether a red dot and a smoother trigger on a 92 are worth choosing over the standard model, or over the metal DA/SA guns from CZ and Sig.
Beretta's Twin Sear Technology lets the lever drop the hammer to a half-cocked position each time you decock, and the X-treme S trigger runs on DLC-coated components with a skeletonized hammer. The frame is a slimmer Vertec-style profile, and the sights are a fiber optic front over a serrated rear. The Beretta 92FS keeps a 4.9-inch barrel and the original grip frame, and Beretta does not list it as optic-ready. The CZ 75 B carries 16 rounds in a steel frame at 35.2 oz and has a manual safety, and CZ lists no optics-ready version of it. The Sig Sauer P226 Elite also comes optic-ready, with a shorter 4.4-inch barrel.
Buy the 92GTS if you like the 92's long slide and open-top ejection and want a red dot on it without sending the slide to a machinist. Skip it if you will run iron sights for good: the 92FS does the same job.

- Twin Sear Technology decocks the hammer to half-cock each time, and the DLC trigger components and skeletonized hammer target a smoother pull than older 92 triggers.
- The slimmer Vertec-style frame gives shooters with average or small hands a better reach to the trigger than the classic 92 grip.
- At 1.5 inches wide and 5.4 inches tall, it is a belt-and-duty-holster gun. Concealing it takes a cover garment and a strong belt.
- DA/SA means learning two trigger pulls: a long, heavy first shot and a short single-action reset after it. Shooters coming from striker guns need range time to manage that transition.
- If you never mount a dot, what you get over the 92FS is the trigger parts, frame shape and fiber optic front sight, which some 92 owners will not value.
