CCI Blazer Clean Fire .40 S&W 180gr TMJ is built specifically for indoor range shooters. The Total Metal Jacket fully encases the lead core so no lead is exposed at the bullet base, and the primer is lead-free as well. At 1,000 fps with 400 ft-lbs of energy, the ballistics are comparable to the Federal Range and Target 180gr FMJ. The difference is what comes out the barrel besides the bullet: significantly less airborne lead.
The aluminum case keeps weight and cost down, though it cannot be reloaded. For shooters who do not handload, that is a non-issue. CCI uses a clean-burning powder charge that leaves less residue in the action, which means your pistol runs longer between cleanings. The 180-grain TMJ bullet weight matches standard .40 S&W defensive loads, so the recoil feel is close to what you would experience with carry ammo.
If you train at an indoor facility with ventilation requirements, or simply want to reduce your personal lead exposure during high-volume sessions, this is the load designed for that job.
