Product Overview
Sig Sauer's 60-grain Elite is for shooters who want a solid copper bullet in their .223, with no lead core. It leaves the muzzle at 3,100 fps with 1,280 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with Barnes' 55-grain VOR-TX TSX, another bullet with no lead core, the Sig starts 140 fps slower, and the two leave the muzzle with almost the same energy: 1,280 ft-lbs for the Sig and 1,282 for the Barnes. Compared with Federal's 62-grain Fusion MSR, a bonded soft point with a lead core, the Sig starts 350 fps faster with 239 ft-lbs more energy at the muzzle. The Sig kicks about 7 percent harder than the Fusion in the same rifle.
Buy the Sig if you want a copper bullet a few grains heavier than the Barnes and a fast start. Pick the Barnes if you want an all-copper bullet that starts faster and kicks less. Pick the Fusion MSR, which Federal markets for hunting with modern sporting rifles, if you want a heavier bonded bullet with a lead core and softer recoil. If you want a full metal jacket load at the same muzzle speed, Hornady's Black 62-grain FMJ also leaves the muzzle at 3,100 fps, and it kicks about 7 percent more than the Sig in the same rifle.
