The 6mm Creedmoor is a necked-down 6.5 Creedmoor that pushes .243" bullets faster and flatter than its parent case. Hornady introduced it in 2017 for PRS (Precision Rifle Series) competitors who wanted less wind drift and recoil than 6.5mm cartridges. A 103-grain bullet leaves the muzzle around 3,050 fps and stays supersonic past 1,200 yards in typical conditions.

The cartridge fits short-action rifles and uses the same bolt face as the .308 Winchester family. Barrel life runs shorter than 6.5 Creedmoor—expect 2,000 to 3,000 rounds before accuracy falls off, depending on how hot you load it. Factory ammo is available from Hornady, Federal, and several smaller manufacturers. Hunters use it for deer and antelope where the light recoil allows quick follow-up shots, though it lacks the bullet weight for elk or larger game.
