Product Overview
Barnes' 120-grain jacketed hollow point is a light, fast .300 Blackout load that runs well above the speed of sound. Barnes loads a hollow point with a flat base, a bullet with an open cavity in the nose. It leaves the muzzle at 2,100 fps with 1,175 ft-lbs of energy and carries a G1 BC of .297.
Zeroed at 100 yards, the Barnes drops about 9 inches at 200 yards and about 31 at 300, so the distance matters far more past 200. At 200 yards the bullet is still moving at 1,612 fps. Wind matters more with each step out. A steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes the bullet about 7 inches sideways by 200 yards and about 17 by 300, so a shot at 300 calls for a known distance and a read on the wind.
Buy the Barnes if you want a light, fast hollow point and plan most shots inside 300 yards. Pick Sellier & Bellot's 124-grain FMJ instead if you want a full metal jacket bullet for practice and target work with a slightly flatter path: it carries a higher G1 BC, and from the same 100-yard zero it drops about 26 inches at 300 yards.
