Product Overview

Remington's Core-Lokt Tipped 150-grain .30-06 load pushes a polymer-tipped bullet at 2930 fps with 2859 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The G1 ballistic coefficient of .415 sits well above traditional soft points in this weight class, and the polymer tip drives consistent expansion on contact. This is a modern upgrade to the original Core-Lokt design that has been dropping game since 1939.

The polymer tip does two jobs at once. It improves the aerodynamic profile for flatter flight past 200 yards, and it forces the bullet to open up on impact even at lower velocities. The Core-Lokt locking ring still holds the jacket and core together during penetration. That means the bullet expands wide but stays in one piece through heavy bone and muscle. Compared to conventional pointed soft points with BCs around .314, this load bucks wind better and drops less at distance.

Deer hunters who sit timber stands and also take field-edge shots out to 300 yards will get the most from this load. The controlled expansion preserves backstrap on broadside hits, while the retained weight punches through shoulders on quartering shots. It works equally well on antelope in open prairie and black bear in thick cover. Zero at 200 yards and you have a point-blank range that covers most hunting situations without holdover math.

Strengths
  • Polymer tip initiates reliable expansion even at reduced velocities past 300 yards, unlike conventional soft points that can fail to open at longer range
  • BC of .415 provides noticeably less wind drift than the .314 of standard Core-Lokt PSP and Federal Power-Shok loads in the same weight class
  • Fastest muzzle velocity among its 150-grain competitors at 2930 fps, producing the flattest trajectory for field shooting
  • Core-Lokt locking ring prevents jacket separation on heavy bone hits, a common failure point for unbonded bullets
Limitations
  • BC still trails the Remington Premier Scirocco Bonded (.435) and other premium polymer-tipped options in the same caliber
  • Polymer tip may deform in tubular magazines during recoil, though most .30-06 rifles use box magazines
  • Costs more per round than the standard Core-Lokt PSP while using the same Core-Lokt retention system
