Product Overview

SinterFire's .380 Auto loads a 75-grain lead-free FMJ at 1025 fps, generating 166 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. That's lighter and faster than most .380 range ammo, which typically runs 90 to 95 grains in the 945 to 960 fps range. The lighter projectile means less felt recoil in compact pistols, and the higher velocity helps compensate for the reduced bullet mass. Brass cases and new-production components round out the build.

The lead-free construction is the defining feature here. SinterFire's powder metallurgy process creates a frangible projectile that breaks apart on hard surfaces instead of ricocheting. That makes it a practical choice for steel target shooting at closer distances and for indoor ranges that restrict lead ammunition. Compared to the Ammo Inc Streak loads at 890 fps and 176 ft-lbs, the SinterFire trades bullet weight for speed and adds the frangible safety factor that those TMC rounds don't offer.

This ammo fits best as a dedicated training and practice load. If you shoot at an indoor facility with lead restrictions, it solves that problem outright. The frangible design also works well for force-on-force steel plate drills where ricochet risk matters. It's not a defensive round, but the recoil profile is mild enough to build good habits with your carry gun before switching to your preferred hollow points for everyday carry.

Strengths
  • Lead-free frangible construction eliminates airborne lead exposure at indoor ranges
  • 1025 fps velocity is noticeably faster than the Ammo Inc Streak loads at 890 fps
  • Breaks apart on hard surfaces, reducing ricochet risk during steel target practice
  • 75-grain bullet produces less felt recoil than standard 90 to 95 grain .380 loads
Limitations
  • 166 ft-lbs of muzzle energy falls below most .380 range loads in the 185 to 203 ft-lbs range
  • 75-grain weight does not match the recoil profile of typical 90 to 95 grain defensive ammunition
  • Lead-free frangible ammo costs more per round than standard FMJ options from PMC or Winchester
  • Not suitable for self-defense use due to frangible bullet design that lacks penetration depth
