Product Overview
Black Hills loads the Barnes 110gr TTSX, an all-copper hollow point with a polymer tip, to 2,250 fps from .300 Blackout. This is the fastest factory supersonic load in the caliber and delivers 1,237 ft-lbs at the muzzle. The TTSX is a monolithic bullet that retains virtually 100% of its weight on impact. It does not shed a lead core because there is no lead core to shed. That retained weight drives deep, straight-line penetration on game animals.
For hunting hogs, deer, or predators with a .300 Blackout, the TTSX bullet is one of the best terminal performers available. The four petals peel back on impact and create a wound channel wider than the bullet's expanded diameter. Because it is all copper, the bullet is also legal in states and on public lands that require lead-free ammunition. California hunters running .300 Blackout carbines have limited factory options that meet the lead-free mandate, and this Black Hills load is one of the few that does.
Black Hills is a small-batch manufacturer based in South Dakota with a reputation for match-grade consistency. Their .300 Blackout loads use new brass, and the cases are excellent candidates for reloading. The combination of premium Barnes bullets, careful assembly, and the highest velocity in the supersonic .300 BLK category makes this a purpose-built hunting round. It costs more per round than FMJ training ammo, but the terminal performance justifies the price for any shot that needs to count.
- All-copper Barnes TTSX retains nearly 100% of its weight on impact, driving deep penetration on game
- 2,250 fps is the highest muzzle velocity among factory .300 Blackout supersonic loads
- Lead-free construction is legal in states requiring non-toxic ammunition, including California
- Black Hills small-batch manufacturing produces match-grade consistency in velocity and accuracy
- Four-petal expansion creates wound channels wider than the bullet diameter
- Most expensive supersonic .300 Blackout option, making it impractical for regular range use
- 110gr monolithic copper is longer than comparable lead-core bullets, which can reduce magazine capacity in some configurations
- All-copper bullets can produce more bore fouling than jacketed lead in some barrels
- Limited availability compared to mass-market manufacturers like Federal or Hornady
