Product Overview

The Berger Match Grade .260 Remington sends a 130-grain OTM Tactical bullet downrange at 2875 feet per second with 2386 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. Berger developed the AR Hybrid OTM Tactical specifically for shooters using magazine-fed rifles where overall cartridge length constraints matter. The 0.56 G1 ballistic coefficient represents excellent aerodynamic performance in a bullet designed to fit AR-10 magazines and similar platforms.

The hybrid ogive design combines tangent and secant profiles to reduce sensitivity to seating depth while maintaining low drag. This means the bullet can be seated deeper for magazine feeding without the dramatic accuracy shifts some secant ogive bullets exhibit. The J4 precision jacket ensures consistent concentricity, and the overall design aims for the balance between BC and practical rifle feeding that tactical shooters require.

Precision rifle competitors using semi-automatic platforms will appreciate ammunition that feeds reliably while still delivering match-grade accuracy. The .260 Remington in an AR-10 or similar rifle becomes a capable long-range system with this load. Designated marksman applications also benefit from the combination of reduced recoil and flat trajectory. While optimized for competition and tactical use, the bullet's performance on varmints and predators makes it suitable for those applications as well.

Strengths
  • Hybrid ogive design maintains accuracy even when seated to magazine length, unlike pure secant bullets that can be finicky
  • The 0.56 G1 BC provides excellent wind resistance while fitting standard AR-10 magazine constraints
  • J4 precision jackets deliver the concentricity competitive shooters demand for consistent groups
  • Optimized overall length feeds reliably in semi-automatic platforms where shorter seating is required
Limitations
  • The BC falls short of longer bullets like the RDF at 0.615 that bolt-action shooters can seat further out
  • Match hollow point construction limits effectiveness for hunting applications beyond varmints
  • Berger ammunition commands premium pricing compared to bulk match alternatives
  • Specifically designed for magazine feeding—bolt-action shooters may prefer bullets optimized for longer seating
