About This Firearm
The Glock G45 Gen5 MOS is a crossover striker-fired 9mm built for duty carry with a red dot. Glock lists it in its law enforcement line and sells it commercially as well. Its slide comes in MOS configuration, so a reflex sight mounts onto the factory slide through the adapter plate for its footprint, with no milling and no replacement slide.
Three magazines, a speed loader, a cleaning set, a backstrap set, a cable lock and a case are in the box. The frame is Glock's crossover frame, subdued black with a flared magazine well, an ambidextrous slide stop lever and a reversible magazine catch. Glock lists four optional magazine capacities above the standard 17.
If you're cross-shopping, the Glock G45 Gen5 is the identical pistol with a solid slide, 0.04 oz lighter and with no optic cut. The Glock G45 Gen6 keeps the 4.02-inch barrel, the 7.44-inch length and the 5.47-inch grip, comes in at 23.1 oz, ships with three optic plates and takes optic screws directly into the slide.

How does MOS mounting differ from the Gen6 system?
MOS puts an adapter plate between the optic and the slide, with a different plate for each footprint. Glock's Gen6 slides take the optic screws directly, and the three plates supplied cover the footprints that still need one.
Are the Gen5 MOS and Gen6 G45 the same size?
They match on barrel length, overall length and grip height. The Gen6 is 0.01 inches wider, 1.42 oz lighter and has a flat-faced trigger as standard.
Can a left-handed shooter move the magazine catch?
Yes. The extended Gen5 catch reverses, but the pistol has to be field stripped to do it and New Style magazines are required once the catch sits on the left.
