About This Firearm

Savage's 110 Tactical pairs the user-adjustable AccuTrigger with a 20 MOA EGW Picatinny rail and a heavy-contour 24-inch fluted barrel — features that are usually bundled into rifles a full step up the ladder. The AccuTrigger is factory-adjustable from 1.5 to 6 lbs using a supplied tool, and it breaks cleanly with a short reset. Reviewers consistently rate it as the best trigger in any production bolt rifle in its class. The Tikka T3x CTR's single-stage trigger is adjustable between roughly 2 and 4 lbs; the Bergara B-14 HMR sits at 3.4 lbs. The 110 Tactical's 1.5 lb floor is in a different league for a stock production rifle.

The AccuFit stock adjusts length of pull from 12.75 to 13.75 inches using interchangeable inserts, and comb height is similarly adjustable. It's not a chassis system — the stock is fixed in its overall architecture — but it does let most shooters dial in a proper cheek weld before mounting optics. The rifle ships with one 10-round Magpul AICS magazine in a gray beavertail synthetic stock. Weight is 8.87 lbs, about 1.8 lbs lighter than the Ruger Precision Rifle, though still heavier than the Sig CROSS at 6.8 lbs.

The 110 Tactical is currently out of production. That doesn't mean it's unavailable — examples surface regularly through distributors and the used market — but buyers should be aware they're not getting an actively supported current model. Savage's AccuTrigger debuted in 2003 and fundamentally changed how people evaluated factory bolt rifles.

Best For

GOOD
Long-Range Target Shooting
The 1.5 lb AccuTrigger, 24\" heavy fluted barrel, and factory-installed 20 MOA rail make this a ready-to-scope precision platform. Owners report consistent sub-MOA performance with quality ammo, and the rail eliminates the cost of a separate base.
GOOD
Precision Competition (Budget Entry)
The 110 Tactical gets a shooter into NRL Hunter or PRS club matches with a legitimate 10-round AICS magazine and a trigger that doesn't need immediate replacement. The Ruger Precision Rifle adds a folding chassis and dual mag interface at significantly higher cost.
FAIR
Hunting
The threaded muzzle and AICS magazine work in the field, and at 8.87 lbs the 110 Tactical is manageable from a vehicle or fixed position. The beavertail tactical stock is not designed for hard country carry — hunters covering serious mileage would be better served by the lighter 110 High Country or a purpose-built hunting variant.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths
  • The 1.5 lb AccuTrigger is factory-adjustable from 1.5 to 6 lbs and breaks with a short, clean reset — no aftermarket trigger needed to shoot at a competitive level. It ships with a factory-installed 20 MOA EGW Picatinny rail, saving the cost and fitment work of a separate base. Comparable bolt rifles at this price point run 2.5–3.5 lb triggers and typically require a separate rail purchase.
  • Ships with a 10-round Magpul AICS magazine, compatible with the broad AICS aftermarket ecosystem. One mag is enough to start; extras are readily available and inexpensive.
Limitations
  • Currently out of production. Used examples are available but Savage no longer manufactures this model, so long-term parts support is less certain than on current-production rifles.
  • The AccuFit stock adjusts LOP and comb height but is not a chassis — no folding capability, no true modularity for switching grip or buttpad configuration. Shooters who want a chassis platform will need to budget for an aftermarket stock or move to a different rifle entirely.
  • Ships with only one magazine. At 10 rounds, it's fine for a match start but most competitors want two or three mags ready to run.

Frequently Asked Questions

What magazines fit the Savage 110 Tactical, and will generic AICS mags work?

The 110 Tactical uses an AICS-pattern magazine interface and ships with a Magpul PMAG 10 AC. Most standard AICS-compatible magazines from MDT, Accuracy International, and other aftermarket makers will fit and feed reliably. However, not all Savage 110-series rifles use the same mag well — some earlier or budget-tier 110 variants use a Savage-proprietary design that does not accept true AICS mags. The 110 Tactical specifically is AICS-compatible. If you're buying AICS mags for a different 110-series model, check the spec sheet before ordering.

Is the Savage 110 Tactical still in production?

No. Savage has discontinued the 110 Tactical. Remaining new inventory still moves through distributors, and used examples appear regularly on the secondary market. Buyers should verify the condition of the AccuFit stock components and the trigger adjustment when buying used, as both are wear points that see adjustment in the field.
