Product Overview
Winchester's Expedition Big Game Long Range load uses Nosler's AccuBond Long Range bullet, a bonded polymer-tipped design built for reliable expansion at both high and low impact velocities. The 142gr bullet launches at 2700 fps with 2298 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Its 0.625 G1 BC is one of the highest among 6.5 Creedmoor hunting loads, keeping the bullet supersonic well past 1000 yards and reducing wind drift at the distances where long-range hunters actually shoot.
The AccuBond LR bullet uses a bonded lead core fused to a tapered copper jacket. This construction holds the bullet together on close-range impacts where velocity is high, while the polymer tip and long ogive ensure reliable expansion at the reduced velocities found past 500 yards. For western hunters who glass and stalk mule deer across open basins, or anyone who might take a shot at 400+ yards, this combination of high BC and reliable terminal performance at distance is hard to beat in a factory load.
The 142gr weight sits in a sweet spot for 6.5 Creedmoor. It is heavy enough to retain energy at distance but light enough to run at a velocity that keeps the trajectory reasonable. Compared to a standard 140gr soft point, this load drifts less in wind and drops less past 300 yards. The premium construction does come at a higher price than basic hunting ammo, so this is a load to zero with and take hunting rather than burn through at the range.
- 0.625 G1 BC from the AccuBond LR bullet provides excellent wind resistance and retained velocity at long range
- Bonded construction holds the bullet together on close impacts while still expanding reliably at low velocities past 500 yards
- 142gr weight balances flat trajectory with strong downrange energy retention
- Designed and tested specifically for long-range hunting, not repurposed from a match bullet
- Premium pricing makes it expensive to use for practice or load verification sessions
- 2700 fps muzzle velocity is modest for the caliber, producing more drop inside 300 yards than faster loads
- Availability can be inconsistent compared to more common Hornady and Federal hunting loads
