Hornady's V-Match line pairs the ELD-VT (Varmint Tipped) bullet with match-grade brass for a load that works on both prairie dog towns and paper targets. At 100gr, this is the lightest 6.5 Creedmoor load in Hornady's lineup. It leaves the muzzle at 3000 fps with 1998 ft-lbs of energy. The 0.448 G1 BC is respectable for a bullet this light, and the high velocity produces an extremely flat trajectory inside 400 yards.

The ELD-VT bullet is designed for rapid fragmentation on small targets. On prairie dogs, ground squirrels, and coyotes, the thin jacket and polymer tip create immediate energy transfer. There is no controlled expansion here; the bullet comes apart quickly, which is exactly what varmint hunters want. The reduced weight also generates less recoil than any other 6.5 Creedmoor factory load, making it comfortable to shoot through long sessions behind the rifle.

For target shooters, the V-Match offers an affordable way to shoot the 6.5 Creedmoor platform without the cost of heavier match loads. The lighter bullet does drift more in wind past 600 yards, and it goes transonic sooner than 140gr options. But for casual range use, load verification, or steel matches at moderate distances, the accuracy is good and the price is right. This is not a deer hunting bullet. The fragmentation that works on varmints would produce unreliable terminal performance on larger game.
