Product Overview
Hornady's ELD Match 147gr is the heaviest factory match load available in 6.5 Creedmoor, and its 0.697 G1 BC is among the highest of any factory rifle ammunition in any caliber. At 2695 fps, it generates 2370 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The Heat Shield tip resists aerodynamic deformation in flight, maintaining that high BC from muzzle to target. For PRS competitors and long-range precision shooters, this load is built to stay supersonic and fight wind drift past 1200 yards.
The extra bullet weight pays off most at extended distances. Compared to the 120gr ELD Match in the same caliber, this 147gr load drifts less in a 10 mph crosswind at 1000 yards by roughly 15-20 inches. It also stays supersonic about 200 yards farther. The tradeoff is a lower muzzle velocity and more drop inside 400 yards, where the lighter bullet shoots flatter. Shooters who compete at 600+ yards or shoot long-range steel will see the biggest advantage from this load.
This is also one of the best factory options for load development reference. Many handloaders use it as a baseline to compare their 147gr ELD-M handloads against. The factory brass is consistent in weight and neck tension, and the overall cartridge length is optimized for magazine feeding in most bolt-action and AR-10 pattern rifles.
